During Nieuw Amsterdam’s last visit to Navplion, Greece, several groups took part in the Mycenae and Palamidi Castle tour. Everyone enters through the famous Lion’s Gate, Europe’s oldest existing example of monumental statuary.
A short distance away from the citadel is the Beehive Tomb, a place thought to be the burial site of Agamemnon. After seeing the ancient Acropolis of Mycenae, the tour continued to a massive fortified area known as the Palamidi which allowed for spectacular views of the town, harbor and ms Nieuw Amsterdam.
