Noordam Donates to Orphanage in Valletta, Malta

On August 8, the Noordam made her only call in Malta for the season. Noordam’s Hotel Manager Mark Pells had been in touch with the Ursuline Sisters Orphanage in Malta. He had been on board the old Noordam some years ago when the ship donated to the same orphanage.

The Ursuline Sisters’ main mission is to care for children who for various social reasons, cannot live with their natural families. The sisters always keep in mind the founder’s words: “Like the embrace of a loving mother, is a young child in the arm of an Ursuline Sister.”

Noordam’s officers and crew got together and donated everything from cooking materials, china and silverware to clothing. A donation box was put at the gangway and guests and crew were free to make a donation of their own. The sisters were ever so grateful and this sunny day in Malta turned out to be ever so meaningful.
