Help a Reader Out

We received this question from a reader and hope someone out there can answer the question for her:

What should we pack for a trip from California-Hawaii & return in April?

If you have a suggestion, please leave a comment.

Having just returned from the very same cruise – and being a resident of Alaska – I found this to be a bit of a challenge myself. However, what I found to be most useful were the following items:

*Small Daypack (I had purchased one while on a previous cruise from one of the shops onboard and it was perfect!)
*Capri pants – cotton (both casual and dressy)
    *Short sleeve shirts
*Tank tops to be worn under shirts, or on shore
*Swimsuits (more than one is really helpful, especially when you go snorkeling on shore)
    *Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
*Sweatshirt/hoodie or lightweight rain jacket for windy evenings on deck while watching Kiluaea or for the very occasional rain shower
    *Flip-Flops and sandals
    *Short pants
*Anything Hawaiian print seems to go and if you don’t own any…go to Hilo Hattie’s upon arrival!
    and, of course…
    *Formal Wear!

Being from Alaska, we chose to do a fair amount of lounging on the sandy beaches, and snorkeling. So, if you have room in your suitcase, and you want to snorkel – pack a mask and tube. Otherwise, there are always plenty available at beach shacks on shore.
