Sherry Sampling in Jerez, Spain for Prinsendam Beverage Team

Prinsendam’s beverage team took part in winery tour while in Spain. Here’s a small write-up and pictures submitted to us by Prinsendam’s cellar master, Fredie Basa.

While in Cadiz, Spain, eight bar staff along with myself participated in a special educational tour of a winery. The original name of the winery is Pedro Domecq (French owner) but now they are using the name Terry under an American company, Beam. We were driven to Jerez, the sherry producing capital of the world 50 kilometers away to visit a cellar — Bodega de la Mezquita. There we were able to take part in an informative tasting and learned about the grapes used and the production of sherry. The Prinsendam beverage team took back valuable information to their colleagues on board about differentiating the taste and flavors of Fino, Amontillado, Oloroso, Fundador and Terry Centenario. — Ferdie Basa, cellar master
