During Maasdam’s port of call in Southampton, 48 of Maasdam’s crewmembers got to enjoy a trip to Stonehenge. The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is unique; an exceptional survival from a prehistoric culture. The monument evolved between 3000BC and 1600BC and is aligned with the rising and setting of the sun at the solstices, but its exact purpose remains a mystery. To this day Stonehenge endures as a source of inspiration and fascination and, for many, a place of worship and celebration.
Jaime de Castro-van der Loo is Maasdam’s human resources manager.
