Foods of the Mediterranean Empires

Big thanks to Gwen Pratesi, food and travel writer, for sending in these beautiful photos from her recent HAL sailing. Gwen will be writing more about the cruise and ports of call in the coming months on her own blog www.Bunkycooks.com. Enjoy!

We sailed on the June 5th sailing of the Mediterranean Empires itinerary on board the beautiful Nieuw Amsterdam. We chose this particular cruise because of the historical significance of the ports of call and the opportunity to experience the different cuisines in these countries we visited. Many afternoons as we sailed away from the ports Holland America chefs prepared regional specialties along with local wines on the Lido deck by the pool. The buffets were beautiful and a way to experience some of the foods indicative of the countries we visited. — Gwen
