Marco’s Moments: Copenhagen

For our last time in Copenhagen we were docked along the beautiful Langelinie Pier. This location makes it very easy for the guests and crew to walk directly into town, which we did. From the ship you walk along the Langelinie Allee towards the most famous Copenhagen landmark, the Little Mermaid. Continuing through the Kasteljet fort, you come to the Gefion Fountain with the beautiful Alban church behind. You continue to walk along the water until you come to Amalienborg, the Royal Palace, where you can see the changing of the guards around midday or see the royal guards marching up and down throughout the day. From the Royal Palace you can continue on towards the Nyhavn area and downtown Copenhagen shopping area. Since we were there on a Sunday, most of the shops were closed, so we decided to enjoy a delicious lunch at Nyhavn with a famous Danish seafood salad. Enjoy these images from my last visit to Copenhagen for this year.

These pictures bring back many fond memories. I, too, am of Danish descent…my Great Grandparents were from Copenhagen. We took our sons to Copenhagen in the 1980’s…never forget the intimate time at The Circus and Tivoli (although I understand that it has lost some of its charm because of “age” and the mega. amusement parks). What a friendly city with its display of public art and architecture. The shops exceeded my expectation…fondly remember UlumBuligous (I am sure I have murdered the spelling!) decorated in Christmas grandeur.

I’ve been to Copenhagen a coule of times, however your review and pictures have given me a gorgeously new prospective of the many sights. Very lovely. Makes me anxious to revisit.

    Marco,
Nice photos. I’ve got many of the same shots though not as good. We debarked the Eurodam in Copenhagen last July (2010). Stayed 4 nights before flying to Bergen and enjoying Norway for a week. Had a great time in Copenhagen. The weather was HOT. The residents were friendly and the beer cold and delicious. A wonderful city.
We’re meeting you in Quebec City on Sept. 20th. See you then.
