On September 4, the Eurodam called at Greenland’s southernmost town of Nanortalik. The ship had communicated previously with the port agent to arrange a ship visit for the local children during the port call. At 11:15 a.m., a special chartered tender went shore-side to pick up all 56 children and three representatives. The children were met at the gangway and the entire group went straight to the atrium for a group picture. With assistance from our Club HAL staff, our party planner and several of our cast members, the children were taken on a tour of the ship.
After touring the entire ship including the Club HAL areas and outside pool deck, the children were surprised with a special luncheon in the Lido restaurant. The culinary team went above and beyond to reserve an area of the restaurant and have it decorated with balloons and streamers. The children were treated to hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, pizza and coca cola and finished off their meal with ice cream. Afterward each child received a special gift from Club HAL as well as the picture that had been taken in the atrium. With their bellies filled up nicely and some very special memories, we said goodbye to the wonderful children from Nanortalik, Greenland, and the special chartered tender took them back ashore. Numerous guests commented on the wonderful initiative the ship had undertaken to invite the children on board the ship.
