Volendam Becomes First HAL Ship to Call at Kangaroo Island

Special thanks to HAL’s Chris Martin for this photo of Volendam’s first-ever call at Kangaroo Island, Penneshaw, Australia. HAL’s interest in the island led to them build a new tender-landing facility to accommodate large cruise ships.

Had a wonderful time on Kangaroo Island. Met a local man, Doug, who took us on an amazing tour of the Island as well as taking us home for morning tea, His wife had baked a delicious fruit cake and, as we left, handed me a jar of home made Marmalade. Such hospitality was a rare gem on our cruise with you on the Volendam. Although the friendliness at the other towns we had already visited made the whole cruise most enjoyable.
