Volendam Makes Donation to Japanese Red Cross

When the Volendam visited Kobe, Japan, on May 2, Holland America Line made a generous contribution of $25,000 to the Japanese Red Cross to help with Japan’s recent earthquake/tsunami disaster. Volendam’s Captain Pieter Visser presented the $25,000 check to the Red Cross representative Mr. Yasufumi Yoshikawa, deputy secretary general of the Hyogo Prefectural Chapter Japanese Red Cross Society. Mr Noriyoshi Okaguchi, general director at the port of Kobe, presented gifts and a bouquet to the captain. The ceremony was followed by a drum performance.
