iPad iBlog: The End of a Wonderful Alaska Cruise

Special thanks to Pamela Baade, Holland America Line’s manager of corporate giving, for all the great iPad iBlog posts during her recent vacation to Alaska. Here is Pamela’s final post. Enjoy!

As if cruising wasn’t enough, we hopped on another boat for the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest in Sitka on July 7. We saw lots of eagles, otters, harbor seals, puffins, a grey whale, and some black tailed deer.

I captured this shot of an eagle during the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest excursion.

On July 8 we visited Ketchikan and were pleasantly surprised with our last port call in Alaska. If you like to shop, Ketchikan offers a variety of souvenirs, jewelry and art items made locally. Each of us found a little treasure from Effy Jewelers and enjoyed an espresso in town. Ketchikan is known for its fishing and also offers a great vista for a photo opportunity.

On Saturday, July 9, we called at Victoria. Even if you’ve been to Victoria many times, it never loses its charm. We enjoyed a stroll through the night market, a little shopping in town and a stop at the Empress Hotel for a toast to a wonderful cruise.

We also participated in Oosterdam's On Deck for the Cure walk.

Thanks for the info. Are there any other pointers you can give. We want to take a cruise in May 2012 and have never sailed HAL. Are there any bad things to avoid and good things that are a must? Any additional information you can provide would really be helpful.
