Strengthening its position as the number-one cruise line for adventures to the Last Frontier, Holland America Line was named the top pick for Alaska cruises in the 2019 AFAR Travelers’ Choice Awards. This is the second time the cruise line has won the Alaska category in the award’s four-year existence.
The 2019 AFAR Travelers’ Choice Awards are voted on by AFAR readers who select the cruise lines that capture their imagination and inspire their travel plans. All of the winners will be featured on line and in the November/December print edition of the magazine.
Why Holland America Line is Number-One in Alaska
With the most visits to Glacier Bay and the only cruise line offering Land+Sea Journeys that seamlessly combine an Alaska cruise with overland travel to the Yukon’s hidden gems, Holland America Line’s 70 years of expertise and relationships with the local communities means guests will enjoy the most unique and memorable Alaska and Yukon adventures.
Delivering a premium, mid-sized ship experience, Holland America Line’s perfectly sized Alaska fleet is designed for immersive cruising, not crowds. Wraparound decks bring guests closer to Alaska’s natural wonders, while enriching EXC programming presents the opportunity to learn about the culture and history from authentic experts.
In 2019 eight ships are sailing more than 130 seven to 21-day cruises, departing from Vancouver, British Columbia; Seattle, Washington; Seward, Alaska; and San Francisco, California.
Holland America Line recently opened 99 new guest rooms including the first-ever suites at the McKinley Chalet Resort where guests lodge while traveling on Holland America Line’s Land+Sea Journeys. The 55 suites showcase balconies, larger living areas, thoughtful luxury appointments such as heated bathroom floors and additional amenities for guests.
Holland America Line also recently claimed the top spot as the favorite cruise line for sailings to Alaska in Cruise Critics’ 2019 Cruisers’ Choice Destinations Awards.
