Special thanks to HAL guests Tom and Patti Filipiak for sending in this thoughtful note and great pictures from their recent cruise on Oosterdam.
Hello Holland America:
We want to say a special thanks to the crew of the ms Oosterdam.
My wife Patti and I were on board for the Explorer Cruise from May 20th to the 27th, where we visited Seattle, Tracy Arm, Sitka, Ketchikan and Victoria. We were so impressed with the service we received. Everyone on board was cheerful, exceptionally patient, helpful and very competent. We always felt safe and cared for.
One example was early in the cruise, as we had just exited our stateroom, our cabin steward greeted us by name! This was just one of many times we felt so very special on the trip. Also, a special thanks is due to Jaka, our waiter, in the Vista dining room. He was especially attentive and helpful.
Of course, I would remiss if I did not also talk about Seattle and Alaska. We were awestruck by the beauty of every place we went on our trip. In Seattle we ascended the Space Needle and also saw the new and totally awesome Chihuly Garden and Glass. In Alaska we saw mountains, glaciers, Mt. Edgecumbe volcano, snow, floating ice, trees, bears, bald eagles, whales, ocean water, creatures and life under the sea! We also experienced the warm hospitality and service of the local Alaskan people at each port of call.
Thanks to all for making our cruise an especially memorable trip. — Tom Filipiak
