A Suite Perk: The Neptune Lounge on Holland America Line

Whether you’re opting for a romantic cruise in the Caribbean, a long-awaited Grand Voyage or a multigenerational family reunion, suite accommodations offer the highest level of comfort and relaxation.

What you may not know is that some suites include exclusive access to Holland America Line’s industry-leading retreat, the Neptune Lounge. The Neptune Lounge is found on all 15 ships in the fleet and is an exclusive and private place to relax, socialize and enjoy the personalized service of a concierge who can make shipboard reservations and provide guidance about Holland America Line experiences.

Think of the Neptune Lounge as a living room and an oasis of relaxation. A large-screen television, library, sofas and chairs, complimentary refreshments throughout the day and Wi-Fi for a small charge are all available for your comfort and enjoyment. Continental breakfast and morning coffee or tea are served daily until 11 a.m., and cookies, sandwiches and pastries are served from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sink into a chair and enjoy a book and a cappuccino in the relative quiet of the lounge during the day. Or take a seat at one of the worktables to catch up on the news or research your next destination right here on the Holland America Blog.

Access to the Neptune Lounge also provides access to the first-class concierges who redefine customer service. Don’t worry about waiting in line at the shore excursion desk — the concierges are at your disposal to make tour arrangements or reserve car rentals and local restaurants in port. They can also get you a coveted seat at the Pinnacle Grill, HAL’s sophisticated, intimate restaurant, or make an appointment at the Greenhouse Spa and Salon. The lounge is open from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. on sea days and from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on port days. One-Touch 24-hour concierge service even is available when the Neptune Lounge is closed.

Another appeal of the Neptune Lounge is the sense of community it creates during your cruise. You can take some time to get to know your cruise companions, enjoy a champagne sail away and have some social time before dinner. Neptune Lounge guests even receive corsages and boutonnieres on formal nights!

    Just booked a Neptune suite and connecting VF stateroom for my family of five. Sailing August 24, 2019 to Alaska. Will my two children, booked in the VF stateroom be able to accompany myself, my husband and my other child into the Lounge? Given the rooms connect via an interior door, surely my children could join us?

With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a private verandah, these spacious suites are flooded with light. They feature a large sitting area and two lower beds convertible to one king-size bed—our signature Mariner’s Dream™ bed with plush Euro-Top mattresses. The bathroom comes with a dual-sink vanity, full-size whirlpool bath and shower, plus additional shower stall.     Your former website listed very specific suite perks, like free laundry and dry cleaning, corsages, etc. The new “suite perks” statement simply lists things that are (basically) available to any ship guest (e.g., free room service). Unless Holland is planning to discontinue those perks, it would be helpful if those services could be listed once again. I have trouble remembering and hate to keep calling my Holland agent to ask her.

    I am a 3-star Mariner and have just booked my 2nd cruise for this year on the Eurodam. Once I booked my 2nd cruise, your website shows both bookings with a drop-down menu but when I attempt to access the individual booking by using the “Find Booking” button nothing happens. My Personal Cruise Consultant suggested that I wait for 24 hours for the website to refresh and change my password, which I did, but I still have the inability to access my individual bookings to make changes to my reservations.

    Hi Fernando, there is no exclusive space for suite guests on deck. But you will find plenty of deck space around the ship to lounge in the sun.

    Are the two dining rooms – Pinnacle and Canaletto – complimentary for the Neptune Suite guests? I read that one of the perks is getting a reservation, but it doesn’t say if it is complimentary as I have received on other cruise lines.

    I agree with other comments – it would be nice to know exactly what comes with the perks of the suite instead of a very generic “an array of complimentary services.” What does that mean?

    Hi Leslie, Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto are not complimentary for dinner. However, suite guests can dine in the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast, and that is complimentary.

    You have access to the Neptune Lounge with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages throughout the day. In your suite you’ll have a coffee and espresso machine, complimentary bottled water provided in suite at embarkation and complimentary mimosas with in-suite breakfast. There’s also complimentary sparkling wine served in the Neptune Lounge upon embarkation.

    We have booked a Neptune suite on Zaandam travelling on 3rd November till 19th November 2018, is the in suite bottled water replaced daily? Do we receive free laundry and dry cleaning during the cruise and is there a limit to a number of items?
    As said previously by other guests it would be helpful if this information was either sent to the guests or at least available on your website.

    We have only been in the Neptune suites on Holland American. We have a 10 day cruise booked from NY to Canada. On the Zuderdam have all the suites been refurbished and if so where can I locate photos of the refurbishing on the zuiderdam?

    Hi Shelly, no extra refurbishments have been done. However, the ship’s suites did receive the upgrades in the last refurbishment.

    Julie, can you give us an estimate about when you will post this comprehensive blog?

    We are scheduled for our very long cruise at the end of the month and it would definitely help to know what is included and what not, and what was done to/in the Neptune suites at the last dry-dock so we can prepare accordingly. Unfortunately, advice given on the phone is not always correct as it differs depending on the HAL person talked with, or postings elsewhere.

    Sorry to be a pain in the neck but is that true also for the MS Amsterdam?

    And how about the TV on the Amsterdam after the dry dock. Is that still the old small TV or a new large TV on the wall.
    There seem to be huge differences of the Neptune suites between the ships even after the recent dry docks.

    It depends on the ship. Some do, some do not. But yes, we can accommodate Vegan diets. We have an exclusive Vegetarian/Vegan menu. Please call ship services as far out from sailing as possible: 1–800–541–1576

    Hi Harald, the bathrooms were refurbished with new wall tile, floor, vanity units and new bathtubs. However, they are not yet dual-sink. Six Neptune suites have a shower stall only, the rest of them all are with whirlpools only. The suites received new carpet, new furniture and new softgoods. However, the TVs are not flatscreen yet. That will be done during the next drydock.

    We have sailed in Signature Suites & Neptune Suites on different ships, all older. The Neptune Suite experience far outweighs
    any other rooms in our opinion. We spend a lot of time on the balcony reading and relaxing, enjoying the view and these are by far the best balcony! The size of the room is just enough extra space to not be bumping in to each other. While the Signature Suites are also great nothing beats the convieance and personal service of the Neptune Lounge and Staff. Leaving today on our 3rd Alaska cruise on HAL in a Neptune Suite and looking forward to it tremendously!

    When we booked our Neptune Suite and an inside room across the hall for our grandchildren, our agent said that each room had to have an adult registered to it. So our suite has me and my granddaughter (age 14) registered and the inside room has my husband and grandson (age 12). How is that going to work with all the percs that come with the suite? i.e. priority disembark, embark, neptune lounge access, etc. Does this mean my husband does not get to benefit from the percs? And/or will the grandkids not be able to priority embark with us?

    How much is the Wifi per day. Is it fast enough to stream youtube videos for the kids? Ship will be the Volendam.

    There are three plans. SOCIAL: Only allows access to eight social media sites (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn). SURF: Does not allow videoconferencing or music streaming. Guests can access social media, surf the web and check email. Does not allow video streaming. PREMIUM: Social, web, email and audio/video calling and streaming. Per day on a seven-day cruise is $14.99, $24.99 and $29.99, respectively. You can buy a package for the week, which is a better deal: $69.99, $99.99 and $139.99.

    Hello I would like to know how do I get access to an upset from a Verandah VH guaranteed to a Neptune ? Where can I find current 2018 pictures of Neptune SC class and Neptune SB class? I just booked my first cruise and I am totally confused about my room selection. This supposed to be a nice cruise to celebrate our wedding anniversary and one more important event. 🙁
