Say “I Do” or “I Do Again” with a Holland America Line Destination Wedding

Love represents different things to different people. No matter how you look at it, great love requires a special place to share it, and few venues rival the romance of celebrating love on a Holland America Line cruise.

Whether you prefer a simple ceremony or a larger celebration, a wedding on one of our ships will set the stage for a lifetime of magical memories. For every onboard wedding or renewal ceremony, your personal wedding coordinator will handle all of the details — making certain flowers are delivered, the cake is properly decorated and champagne is poured into sparkling flutes — to ensure you can relax and indulge in pre-ceremony pampering if you desire that is designed to present you at your radiant best.

Shipboard weddings are performed on the day of sailing, prior to the ship’s departure so guests can join you for the event only or stay for the cruise that follows. Weddings also can be arranged ashore during the cruise at various ports of call.

With Holland America Line, you can take your event to an exotic destination with one of our destination wedding packages. Rather than walking down the traditional aisle, take a stroll down a white-sand beach to a quaint little chapel at Half Moon Cay. Guests that visit our paradise island on Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises may tie the knot or renew their wedding vows in a private, traditional Bahamian chapel nestled in a garden overlooking the sea.

Couples can choose to “I do” in satin and flip-flops on the beach dancing to calypso rhythms or start a new chapter of their love story atop a majestic Alaskan glacier. Other options include uniting in festive Mexico, on the romantic islands of Hawaii, on an exotic South Pacific island or in the Land Down Under. The choices are nearly limitless.

Pre-cruise wedding packages are available at any one of our convenient homeports: Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, Florida; Los Angeles and San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; or Vancouver, B.C.; and on select sailings from New York City. A valid marriage license from the place where the marriage occurs is required, and our wedding consultants will assist each couple with the process by providing the necessary information for each specific port.

Everything onboard a Holland America Line ship revolves around romance with spacious guest rooms, private verandahs, perfectly dimmed dining rooms and teak promenade decks ideal for moonlight strolls. It’s a fabulous way to share any special moment, and it can be the awe-inspiring setting of your perfect wedding.

    Good morning,
I have clients who wish to get married onboard Nieuw Amsterdam Ship when it sets sail from Vancouver on 24th August 2019. Can you advise how this is organised for them.
    Kind regards,
    Ruth Saunders

    Hello Julie,
We are sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam March 18 to Mexico. If we bring our marriage license (from Arizona), could the Ship’s Chaplain preform a simple ceremony on board for us with our two friends as witnesses? We don’t need a cake or flowers, we’d just like to be able to say that we tied the knot at sea. This cruise will be our honeymoon, but instead of going to the Justice of the Peace prior to sailing– someone suggested the Chaplain could complete the vows on our first sea day. Thanks for letting me know if there is an inexpensive alternative to your wonderful-sounding wedding pkg.

Is there an option for a reception to be at dinner time? Or how does the reception work? Could we just all sit in one section of the dinning room as a reception? Thank you for your reply!

I’d LOVE to hear more about an at sea Vow Renewal. We’ll be on the Nieuw Amsterdam this summer and I am thinking of surprising my husband (if this is possible). Thank you!

We will be on the Koningsdam for the 23 day Mediterranean cruise, leaving 6/01/2019. Can arrangements be made for marriage renewal vows during cruise?
