No Easter Eggs for Veendam Dry-Dock Team
Holiday or no holiday, work continues at a lightning pace on board the Veendam. In the interior very good progress is being made on the refurbishment of all the bathrooms. The back section is now almost complete, only the final piece of steel — the pizza place called “Slice” — still needs to be put in place.
On decks 9 and 10 aft the construction of the cabins is in full swing; walls are being put up and complete bathrooms are put in their proper place and secured.
The first part of the Retreat has also arrived: the band stand. In the picture you can also make out part of the foundation for the new Retreat pool.
After a lot of preparation work, the time had finally arrived to remove the old bridge wings. Here you see the gaping hole left behind.
Now on eBay: build your own Veendam, part 2 — the portside bridge wing. (Part 1 was the pool.) Collect them all!
The balconies for the Spa cabins are now in place, and final welding will be completed tomorrow. The bridge wing you see in the picture was taken off one hour after this shot was taken.
Jochem Bakker is Veendam’s chief officer.
Wow coming right along! I need to see what the going bids are for all of these former Veendam parts!
How nice to see this ship slowly changing with these major works going on!
Is it possible to show more pictures of the work going on inside the ship?
For instance the refitting of the cabins… this because we will join the vessel in December for the Antarctica cruise!
Keep up the good work!
Greetings,
Mark Vlcek
