Merry Christmas from Nieuw Jakarta!
Special thanks to Robert “Nick” Nichols, Nieuw Jakarta’s academic director, for sending us the following note and photos from the center’s holiday festivities. Nieuw Jakarta is HAL’s crew training center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Happy Holidays from a blue ms Nieuw Jakarta! Santa made an early start this holiday season and we celebrated the holiday season with an end of year Christmas and New Year’s party for students and staff. The party theme was blue and white and snow, snow and snow. Special guest visitor from HAL headquarters in Seattle, Deputy Director of Human Resources Jason Pedersen, who was visiting Sumber Bakat Insani and ms Nieuw Jakarta to discuss human resource issues and the clerk programs, joined in the party festivities and with management and teaching staff to help serve over 170 students at a formal dinner with an appetizer, main course, dessert and beverages. Students also got the chance to attend a pre- and post-dinner cocktail party with specialty cocktails. After dinner the party kicked off as each class performed in a singing competition with holiday favorites such as “Feliz Navidad,” “Have a Very Merry Christmas,” and the crowd winner “Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer” danced “Gangnam Style” by the class. Bingo, door prizes and a DJ also kept everyone entertained.
Thanks for these photos. It is fabulous to have this insider’s look at the festivities at the school. Makes me want to be back on the ships with all those smiling faces!
