Introducing the DAM Quit Program

The DAM Quit program is focused on maximizing crew buddy support. It uses new technology such as laser acupuncture, as well as traditional smoking cessation aids, like the nicotine patch and lozenges, to curb the urge to smoke cigarettes.

Custom tools were developed to assess the progress of each participant and to create a system of support and encouragement. The goal is to keep participants motivated to stay in the program long-term, so that they may benefit from a lasting, healthy behavioral change. The Oosterdam is the second ship in the HAL fleet to implement this program.

Well done all! As a former smoker of 50 years, I know how difficult it is to quit.
I’ve been smoke free for just over a year now, and every day does get better.
I wish all of you the same success I’ve had.

p.s. Just returned from the Mexican Riviera cruise on the Zaandam, and I’m now
a three star mariner…96 cruise days recorded! Hope to achieve another 96 days!
