Holland America Line Partners with Rolling Stone to Launch Rock Room Live Music Venue at Sea

Holland America Line is introducing Rolling Stone Rock Room, a new classic rock club developed in partnership with Rolling Stone, the world’s leading authority in music. Rolling Stone Rock Room lets cruisers step into a unique experience as a live band chronicles rock history as they kick out iconic hits by favorite rock stars.

Rolling Stone Rock Room will debut as part of the innovative Music Walk area on Holland America Line’s Nieuw Statendam when it joins the fleet in December 2018 and Koningsdam that same month.

“We are so excited to tap Rolling Stone’s incredible expertise to create a new live entertainment venue that will appeal to all our guests,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “Innovative and authentic music experiences are at the heart of all our entertainment offerings and is what distinguishes us in the industry. Classic rock appeals to people across generations because the music is universal, and Rolling Stone Rock Room will bring another incredible live music venue to our ships.”

Rolling Stone Rock Room will feature a live five-piece band playing a collection of hits inspired by the magazine’s top song lists.

“Rolling Stone and Holland America Line are two iconic brands that share the vision of bringing the best in music to cruisers,” said Meng Ru Kuok, CEO of Rolling Stone International. “We’re looking forward to this unique brand experience and the first partnership of its kind for us, to bring the Rolling Stone brand to life in the ultimate live rock venue at sea.”

We have traveled on the MS Koningsdam….just curious where the RS Rock Room will be located on the ship. I’m assuming the work will be done during the upcoming weeklong drydock in December. Thanks

I love this idea. HAL needed more entertainment choices. We will be on the Niew Statendam in February and can’t wait to experience this new Rock Room.

Need further clarification. Do you mean the band used to be in the Lincoln Centre Stage will be moved to play in the Quen’s Lounge? This is a good news. But what about the dance floor in the Queen’s Lounge? I hope it can still be used when the band plays some good symphony music that can be danced.

We love ballroom dancing, and love the Queen’s Lounge. But BB King Blue is not our thing. Got enough and repeated songs for our Norway cruise.

So, we have jumped ship to Cunard. But glad to hear the change.

This sounds fantastic. We love classic rock. We have always enjoyed the music you have on board HAL ships and are anxious to check out your new venue on the December 5th sailing from Rome. Can’t wait – the cruise is almost here!

Are all HAL ships going to have a rock & roll venue?

Will you be adding a BB King’s to the Rotterdam? We wanted to sail transatlantic on that ship next year but we can’t imagine spending that much time at sea without BB King’s!

Hi. I was wondering if there’s any more news of the rock and roll room being added to other ships, and specifically the westerdam? Thank you!!

Just finished an alaska cruise on Noordam I’m sorry but the rock venue was way to loud for the space which made the other music turn up their volume. I missed the Orange party being in the crow’s nest like the zanndam and the only dance floor was in the rock venue. I hope this doesn’t carry on to the other ships.
