HAL Honors Shipboard and Shoreside Retirees
Holland America Line honored recent (or soon-to-be) retirees at the Senior Management Conference banquet in Rotterdam. We’re sure you’ll recognized some of your favorite faces from our offices and fleet. Congratulations, and here’s wishing them all the best in their retirement!

Every year the number of Dutch in the HAL staff is less. Within a few years the Dutch history in the HAL disappeared and most of them replaced by other nationalities.
While I am not familar with the other gentlemen, I remember Mr. Gehrman. He was the Chief Engineer aboard the Volendam on her Maiden Asia Pacific Cruise in 2002. I rather imagine that particular voyage, while very memorable and pleasant for all of the guests aboard, might be one he would like to forget.
Congratulations to all of these distinguished gentlemen on your retirement! I hope you will enjoy your retirement as much as I do mine!
