Getting Creative With HAL Swag
Through the years my wife, Mrs. Adriana A. Buitendijk, and I enjoyed quite a few cruises with Holland America Line. In her case since 1956, having therefore earned four-star status some time ago. During this time we have saved up quite a few HAL handbags. Dutch people are known to be thrifty. My wife therefore started to think what she could do with these bags and came up with the idea of of making something useful to wear out off them.
Last month during our Prinsendam cruise from Rome to Athens, she got quite a few comments and was admired as “a walking advertisement for Holland America Line.” She thought it was a lot of fun wearing the jacket since it made many people smile and comment about it. Also, back in Holland – where we now live – it turned out to be a great success.

That is Fabulous! I want one!! :)
Dear Jeanni. Thank you for your comment. The jacket is not for sale, but maybe you wil see me wearing it on one of these wonderful DAM ships. Lovely greetings, Ada. (Adriana A. Buitendijk).
I certainly hope so, Ada. I will look for you and will know it’s you by the jacket! I’d love to see it in person some day. You are very talented. :)
What a great idea! I have several myself, but not enough yet to create that kind of jacket. Guess I will just have to cruise some more!
