Cruise Diary: At Geiranger, Norway
Guest Elise is on board Rotterdam with her daughter and will be sharing her experience with us during their time on board. Enjoy!
In Geiranger, my daughter really wanted to do the Kayak Tour on Geirangerfjord. I thought it would be an adventure I so went along. We disembarked the ship and made our way to the dock where we got a quick lesson on how to kayak. Once suited up with a life jacket, we were on our way.
The weather started to deteriorate, but we still set out. As we paddled past the Royal Caribbean ship that was in port with us and headed toward Rotterdam, it began to pour. So, they turned us around and we headed back to the dock. In all, we spent about 45 minutes paddling in the rain and got to experience the fjord from eye-level. While it wasn’t ideal, it was still fun and a day I am sure we will never forget.
As is typical in Norway, while we had rain during the morning the skies cleared and gave us a gorgeous sailaway. We were able to snap some beautiful photos as we sailed out of the fjord, past the Seven Sisters waterfalls and their “suitor” waterfall across the way. It’s called Seven Sisters because there are seven falls the come from the top, and the Suitor is wooing them.
