Celebrating 140 Years: Venice Then and Now

Holland America Line’s rich 140-year history is captured perfectly in these two photos. There is a span of 83 years between these two images yet some things never change.

Our guests lined the decks in 1929 onboard the ss Statendam III as she entered the Venetian Grand Canal. And still today Holland America Line passengers watch in awe as the magic of Venice unfolds entering the canal aboard the ms Nieuw Amsterdam IV.
