Captain’s Log: Nice Weather for Some Glacier Photos

After a couple rainy weeks we are lucking out this week with the weather. For the first time this season we got to visit Johns Hopkins Glacier and I got a nice shot of the Gillman and Johns Hopkins glaciers. This year they are connected. I’ll have to go back in my picture files but it looks like they are both showing a bit of advance. The inlet is normally closed until September 1 to allow the seal colony there to have pups in peace. There were still quite a few seals there and real estate was scarce as you can tell from the picture.

Coming out of Glacier Bay in North Inian Pass we caught a lovely couple of Stellar sea lions having a private moment.

After coming out of Glacier Bay we got a nice view of the Fairweather Range from Cross Sound. Mr. Fairweather is clearly visible here at 50 miles. In the foreground is the Brady Glacier.
