Amsterdam Crew Members Spend the Day Cleaning Up the Beach in Fiji
On a recent call in Fiji, Suva City Council and Tourism Police welcomed Amsterdam’s Hotel Director Henk and 29 crew members for another monthly beach clean-up. This time, they collected 550 pounds of debris along a 1.2 mile coast. Some of the crew even got into the water to pull trash from the sea. It was a great day for our oceans and for the communities we visit to provide a better beach experience.
After the trash was handed over to the city council for onward waste processing, Amsterdam crew members returned to the ship for some pizza and drinks to celebrate their hard work. But that’s not all … each participant received an “outstanding volunteer” medal as a reward.
For their next beach clean-up mission, Amsterdam will visit Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia.
Vinaka Thanks a lot for your helping hand in Fiji.
We love u
EXCELLENT! Would be interested, as a HAL guest, in joining the crew in clean ups in the Caribbean. What a great way to give back to the beautiful islands we visit.
We were on a cruise that left Amsterdam on July 21 2018 and sailed through the fjords of Norway for approximately a week. Our cruise directors surname was Purcell(same as mine). We had a wonderful staff member named John Vargas looking after us. When we left we wanted to keep in touch with him, However we have misplaced his email address, his email had something to do with his young daughters name Vivian. If you could help us find him we would like to contact him and reconnect.
EXCELLENT WORK – Being involved with the SDG challenge isn’t hard – it simply take the will to engage.
At about the same time, I was on the MAASDAM with 6 family members who would have volunteered to do this while we were in Fiji, Tonga, Nuie, New Zealand, and New Caladonia this month.
