A Lion’s Gate Bridge View of Statendam’s Sailaway
Special thanks to Steve J. Garrod, webmaster for www.shipcafe.net, for sending in these beautiful photos of Statendam‘s sailaway from Vancouver.
For Statendam’s sail away from Vancouver, BC on 14 July, 2013, I scaled the Lion’s Gate Bridge to get a bird’s eye view of her departure. She was seen peacefully docked at Canada Place before she sailed astern with Mount Baker as a gorgeous backdrop. She then made her way toward the Lion’s Gate Bridge where I was able to photograph her from above.

Great photos. The bridge provides quite a view to cyclists. Can’t count the number of times I’ve sailed under that bridge on various Hal ships. I’m usually up in the Crow’s Nest for Sail-Away.
