Soccer season has begun. Once a month during the Alaska cruise season, Zuiderdam and Rotterdam crew members get together in Juneau to play a friendly game of soccer. June 12 was a very special day at the shipyard. Around 200 crew members joined Nieuw Amsterdam. Buses were organized for the crew to be picked up from their hotels and driven to the shipyard. They will be joining everyday until the ship sails with all 933 crew members.
Hello from the Grand Med and Black Sea Cruise on the Prinsendam. Our cruise visited Sochi, Russia, home of the 2014 Olympics. All I can say is that they have a lot to do. Here are some photos of the site of the future Winter Olympics. — Lois Schwartz
Dutch artist and sculptor Harald Vlugt was commissioned to create the large mural found in the Explorer’s Lounge on all Holland America Line ships. Usually they depict a scene from Dutch history or portray a specific Dutch location. This one is a whimsical look at New York City and the Hudson River.
